TV mounting in Rocklin, CA
TVs mounted level, into studs or masonry, at a height you can actually watch from the couch.
How I approach it
The mount is the easy part. The real work is finding the studs, picking the height and dealing with whatever is behind the wall. Anything bigger than a small TV goes into wood framing. Brick, stone and tile get masonry anchors rated for the load. Drywall anchors alone don’t hold a TV.
Height is where most mounted TVs go wrong. Over the fireplace is the default in a lot of homes around here, and it’s usually too high for comfortable viewing. A tilting or pull-down mount helps. I mark the position on the wall first so you can sit down and check it before anything gets drilled.
Good to know
The mount has to match your TV’s VESA pattern and weight. If you haven’t bought one yet, send me the TV model and I’ll tell you what to get.
A full-motion arm puts a lot of leverage on the wall. Tell me which wall it’s going on when you ask for a quote, because masonry and single-stud locations need different hardware.
