What needs fixing?
From one stubborn door to a whole list of little home repairs, plus the hauling, cleaning and site work that goes with them, without chasing down a different vendor for every task.
Repairs and improvements
Hands-on repair and improvement work around the house. California limits this side of the business to small jobs: under $1,000 in labor and materials, with no building permit needed.
Furniture assembly
Flat-pack and boxed furniture assembled square and tight, and anchored to the wall when it can tip.
TV mounting
TVs mounted level, into studs or masonry, at a height you can actually watch from the couch.
Drywall patch and paint touch-up
Holes, dents and cracks patched, textured and painted so you can’t pick out the repair from across the room.
Door and lock repair
Sticking, sagging and drafty doors adjusted, and locks and handles replaced, so every door closes and latches the first time.
Faucet and toilet repair
Running toilets, dripping faucets and worn fixtures fixed on your existing plumbing, before they waste more water.
Ceiling fan and light fixture swap
Builder fans and fixtures swapped for ones you chose, on the existing wiring, with a fan-rated box when the old one isn’t.
Fence and gate repair
Leaning sections, rotted posts, broken boards and sagging gates repaired without tearing out the whole fence.
Shelving and closet systems
Shelves and closet systems installed level and fastened for the weight they’ll actually hold.
Caulking and weatherproofing
Old, cracked caulk cut out and replaced, and gaps sealed, so water and drafts stay outside.
Electronic setup and repair help
Doorbell cameras, smart thermostats, TVs and streaming gear installed on your existing wiring and set up so they work.
General home repair punch lists
A whole list of small repairs handled in one visit, instead of calling a different trade for every item.
Pressure washing
Driveways, walkways, patios and siding cleaned at the right pressure for each surface, so the grime comes off and the surface doesn’t.
Hauling, cleaning and site work
This work isn’t contracting, so the small-job limit doesn’t apply. One couch or a whole-house cleanout, a single unit or a full turnover, one site visit or a series of them.
Junk hauling and debris removal
Old furniture, garage clutter, yard debris and leftover project materials loaded up and hauled away, from one couch to a whole-house cleanout.
Cleaning and move-out turnovers
Move-out, move-in and rental turnover cleaning, top to bottom, so the house is ready for the walkthrough or the next tenant.
Property inspections, site surveys and photo documentation
On-site walk-throughs, measurements and organized photos and video for contractors, property managers and owners who can’t be there in person.

Small repairs welcome
I keep repair and improvement jobs under $1,000—the items that are hard to get on a big contractor’s calendar. Hauling, cleaning and site surveys have no size limit.
Hi, I’m Justin.
I’m Justin. When you call, you get me: I answer the phone, I give you the quote, and I’m the one who shows up and does the work.
I started Just Call A Handyman for the jobs that fall through the cracks: too small for a contractor to put on the calendar, too annoying to keep living with. A door that won’t latch. A toilet that runs all night. The hole where the last owner’s TV mount used to be.
I’m based in Rocklin and keep my work close to home in south Placer County, which is how I can usually fit a job in the same week. The rules are simple: $100 an hour, a two-hour minimum, a quote before I start, and a straight answer when something isn’t a handyman job.

Questions people ask
What does the 2-hour minimum mean?
Every visit is billed at least 2 hours, which is $200 at $100 an hour. If your job only takes 40 minutes, the rest of that time is still yours, so line up a second small task and I’ll do it on the same visit. Past 2 hours, it’s the same hourly rate.
Why do you keep repair jobs under $1,000?
Small repairs are what bigger contractors can’t fit in, and they’re what I can schedule in the same week. California also limits repair and improvement work done without a contractor’s license to jobs under $1,000, labor and materials together, with no building permit and no hired help. Splitting one project into smaller invoices doesn’t get around that. I quote every repair job against that limit, and bigger projects go to licensed contractors who are set up for them.
Is there a size limit on hauling, cleaning and site surveys?
No. Junk hauling, cleaning and turnovers, and site surveys and photo documentation aren’t contracting work, so the small-job limit doesn’t apply to them. A whole-house cleanout or a full rental turnover is fine. Pressure washing is different: California licenses water blasting as a contracting trade, so I treat it like a repair, under the same limit.
Are you a licensed contractor?
No. I’m not licensed by the California Contractors State License Board. California lets someone without a contractor’s license take on small jobs, under $1,000 total for labor and materials, as long as the work doesn’t need a building permit and no one else is hired to help. That’s the only kind of work I take, and I’m insured. If a job needs a permit or a licensed trade, I’ll tell you before I start, not after.
What don’t you do?
Anything that needs a permit or a licensed specialist: new electrical circuits, outlets or panel work; moving or adding plumbing; water heaters; gas lines; roofing; structural work; HVAC; and bigger projects like remodels or painting a whole house. If you’re not sure, ask. I’d rather say no on the phone than after I’ve shown up.
How does quoting work?
Text a photo or two of the job to 530-208-9431, or fill out the form on this page. I can quote most small jobs from photos. If I need to see it in person, I’ll come out for a free quote. Either way, you have the quote before any work starts.
Tell me what’s on your list.
Send a few details and a photo or two, and I’ll get back to you within one business day with a free quote. If it’s easier, call or text instead.
