Ceiling fan and light fixture swap in Rocklin, CA
Builder fans and fixtures swapped for ones you chose, on the existing wiring, with a fan-rated box when the old one isn’t.
How I approach it
A lot of homes in this area still have the builder’s fans and fixtures, and they’re due. Swapping one fixture for another on the same box is straightforward. The step people skip is checking that the box is rated for a fan. A fan hung on a light-only box can work itself loose, so I put in a fan-rated brace when it’s needed.
High ceilings are the other half of the job. Great rooms and two-story entries need the right ladder and more time. I’ll tell you up front if a fixture is too heavy or too high to do safely on my own.
Good to know
I work with the breaker off and test that the wires are dead before touching anything. If I find scorched connections, aluminum wiring or missing grounds, I stop and recommend an electrician. That isn’t a fixture swap anymore.
